This striking photographic study captures the breathtaking precision and fleeting grace of a Ruby-throated Hummingbird in mid-flight. Set against a deep, shadowed background that allows the subject to truly shimmer, the image reveals a world usually hidden from the naked eye - the delicate articulation of translucent wing feathers, the sharp intelligence in a dark bead-like eye, and the fiery, metallic gorget that glows like a hidden ember. There is a profound stillness in this high-speed moment, highlighting the fragile yet fierce vitality of one of nature’s most energetic creatures. It is an intimate look at a “jewel of the air”, emphasizing the extraordinary beauty found in the smallest, most kinetic details of life.
Archival 11×14 photographic print.
